Abhishek received his B. Tech degree (Electronics and Communication Engineering) in 2010 from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Jammu, India, and his M. Tech degree (RF and Microwaves) in 2013 from the Ambedkar Institute of Advanced Communication Technologies and Research, Delhi, India (now Netaji Subhash University of Technology-East Campus). In 2019, he received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) under the tutelage of Prof. Animesh Biswas and Prof. M. Jaleel Akhtar. From Mar. 2019 to May 2019, he worked as a Project Scientist in Prof. Akhtar's group in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. Before joining Stevens as a postdoctoral fellow, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the City University of Hong Kong.

His research interests are in applied electromagnetics, specifically metasurfaces and antennas, with applications ranging from microwaves to terahertz frequencies. He has authored/co-authored over 50 scientific contributions in peer-reviewed journal papers and conference proceedings. He received the URSI-InRaSS Young Indian Radio Scientist Award in 2019 during the URSI Asia-Pacific Radio Science Conference in New Delhi.

He is a senior member of the International Union of Radio Science (URSI), a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the Optica (formerly OSA), and the Metamorphose VI AISBL. He is currently serving as an associate editor of the IET Electronics Letters. In addition, he serves as a regular reviewer for journals, including IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters,  Scientific Reports, IET Microwave, Antennas and Propagation, Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, Journal of Optics, Optics Letters, among many others.
